Web Directions Enqueue is coming to Sydney on Friday November 28th, and I could not be more excited. Enqueue is a new independent WordPress conference specifically targeted at developers and enterprise. Think of it as something like LoopConf, but Australian. Delivered by The Code Co, one of Australia’s leading enterprise agencies, and Web Directions, one of the longest running web design conference brands, it’s shaping up to be a cracking event.

As good as WordCamps can be, as a developer who’s been in the industry for over a decade now, I’ve found it increasingly difficult to get the level of presentation I’m hoping to get from events, both as an attendee and as a speaker. It’s been challenging at times to find those technical presentations as opposed to more generic presentations, and so having a dedicated event for developers will hopefully scratch that longstanding itch. Being organised outside of the official WordPress event network also allows for a more professional standard of event, such as speakers being compensated. Speaking of…

As announced by Rae Morey from The Repository, I will be presenting “How We Automated Migrating Thousands Of Blog Posts From ACF Flexible Content To The Block Editor“. Flexible content fields served us well for many years, but the introduction of the block editor offers far more flexibility and standardisation. The biggest hurdle to adopting the block editor for legacy sites is the amount of data to migrate, and I’ll be demonstrating how I was able to automate the process on one of the largest sites I’ve worked on. It’s going to be a fantastic experience to share the stage with some of the people I’ve looked up to most in the industry, such as Peter Wilson, Jono Alderson and Tammie Lister.

I’m incredibly excited to be speaking at and attending the first developer focused WordPress conference and I hope you’ll join me there. Tickets are on sale now on the conference website, and Web Directions are offering for my followers.
