Stop WordPress Installing The Default Themes With Major Updates

Another day, another major WordPress update. If you haven’t already, update to WordPress 5.3 as soon as you can.

But if you have, you may have noticed the default themes making a return to your site. Chances are you deleted them because you don’t need them, so it’s pretty pointless that WordPress is installing them again just because they released a major version update.

Turns out, there’s a simple fix for this. Adding the following constant to your wp-config.php will prevent your site from installing default WordPress themes. I tested this and can confirm it works.

Happy upgrading!
